Report: Russia’s VimpelCom said to sell towers for $800 mln in Q1

MOSCOW, Jan 10 (PRIME) -- Russian mobile operator VimpelCom, working under the Beeline brand, could sell more than 12,000 cellular towers for U.S. $800 million to infrastructure operator Russian Towers in January–March, Bloomberg reported late Monday citing sources familiar with the situation.

Russian Towers, partially owned by Macquarie Group Ltd., was chosen as a potential buyer, the sources said. Terms and conditions of the deal are being discussed and deliberated on.

VimpelCom announced its intention to sell towers in 2015, held a tender and picked up bidders.

Mass media earlier named several potential buyers, including Indian company Quippo, a unit of group Srei, as well as Russian Towers and its shareholders jointly with an investment arm of Goldman Sachs.
